Constance and Nigel Debeumont acquired their immense wealth through the invention of what they first named the "horseless carriage wind visor" and later changed to the more popular "motor car wind-shield". Due to popular demand, they later invented the "wind-shiled wipers", cementing their claim to fortune and fame.

Constance and Nigel had 9 children: Lucille, Alma, Cyrell, Walter, Rodney, Richard, Devin, Dierdre, and the last child who was simply known as Nine.
Constance died of exhaustion shortly after the birth of this last child. Nigel remarried after her death and produced 11 more children. His wealth continued to grow, fed by the inventions of the "glove box" and the "automobile air-freshener". <<<<<
