Great-Uncle Cooper's cousin Winnie was the mother of three daughters, Calliope, Penelope and Ismolde. This is Calliope. Unbelievable as it seems, Calliope, whose legs never developed, had a mysterious power all her own. She floated. Family legend has it that her elevatory power first became evident when Opie was only eight years old after family friend and magician Gordo the Great paid a surprise visit.
Despite endless offers from circus freaks and traveling salvation shows, Opie dedicated her life to the service of others. She was head waitress at EATS, the neighborhood diner. She floated through her shift smiling and joking with the regulars who loved her sense of humor and tipped generously.
With the money she saved on shoes, Opie bought the town's only hot air baloon shortly after marrying her true love Barney Bodoni. Barney and Opie kitted out the baloon with all manner of amenities and supplies and, finally able to float together, took off for exotic lands.
